ADLATUS® Flasher

A programming tool for development, production and service – operated graphically or fully automatically via DLL.

Overview

Programming and logging.

The ADLATUS® Flasher is the PC-side tool for programming control units with the ADLATUS® Flashloader. It logs every programming operation completely in a log file.

It can be used both manually via a graphical user interface and fully automatically by batch file or DLL in production systems — in development, in production and in service.

Processing steps

From data source to control unit

Step 1

Data source

The firmware comes from a data source — selected manually in the user interface or by batch file with the ADLATUS® Flasher DLL.

Step 2

Pre-processing

It is read in from Motorola S19 or Intel Hex format. The FileReader determines the checksum; for confidential product programming, the firmware is compressed and encrypted.

Step 3

Flash protocol

The flash protocol contains the programming sequence prescribed by the OEM — with authorization, authentication and download.

Step 4

Transfer

The Flasher transmits the firmware via the selected transport protocol to the ADLATUS® Flashloader in the electronics.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the ADLATUS® Flasher

What is the ADLATUS® Flasher?

The ADLATUS® Flasher is a PC tool for update programming of control units. It transfers firmware via a transport protocol to the ADLATUS® Flashloader (bootloader) in the control unit. Every programming operation is recorded in a log file.

What areas of application is the Flasher intended for?

The Flasher is used in development, production and service. In production programming stations, it is integrated into in-house processes via the Flasher Engine (DLL). It programs master and slave systems and supports confidential production programming with encrypted firmware. Customer-specific update protocols can be implemented.

Is batch operation in production possible?

Yes. Programming can be carried out via a batch file with the Flasher DLL on a production computer (programming station).

Which file formats can be loaded?

The FileReader reads Motorola S19, Intel Hex and AES-encrypted files. Configuration is done via FileConfiguration.

How is the Flasher licensed?

Licensing is via a CodeMeter USB dongle from Wibu. As of V2.0, each flash protocol can be licensed individually; only licensed protocols can be used. If a license option is missing, this is output in the log and displayed in a dialog. The Flasher Engine is licensed separately.
